Ferme Carolait Expands with 3 Fabric Buildings

In 2010, business and life partners Francis Lachapelle and Stéphanie Leclerc acquired a 60-cow dairy herd and founded Ferme Carolait. They settled on a plot of leased land in Saint-Évariste-de-Forsynth, a village in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Over time, the herd grew to 320 cows, including 160 heads of dairy cattle.

Francis and Stéphanie needed an incremental and flexible solution to house their heifers and dry cows, so they reached out to J.P. Binette Inc. to invest in three Norseman fabric buildings. They purchased the first one in 2022, a structure with double arches and ideal dimensions for their storage needs: 140 feet in length and 50 in width. As they were pleased with their Norseman fabric building, they acquired two more in 2023, including one the same size as the first structure. These new additions are used as cold housing for cows that are currently not being milked. This way, the animals are protected from the elements year-round.
