Raphaël was recently handed the reins of Ferme Rama by his father and co-owner Denis, who acquired it from his own father in 1982. The story began in 1959 when Raphaël’s grandfather laid the groundwork for the farm, which would become the Lussier family’s source of livelihood for 3 generations.
This year, the family expanded and converted their facilities into a loose housing barn with an easy-care milking room, a step up from its former milking robot. Raphaël and his team reached out to JSB Équipements Inc. for efficient yet simple equipment to bring the project to fruition. Serge Dion and Stéphane Maynard supported them by providing free stalls, gates, a vertical chain drive unit for the cleaner (gear teeth reduce chain skipping), and a chain scraper system to replace the cable scraper.
The vertical chain drive unit is JSB Équipements Inc.’s most recent accomplishment. Not only is it simple, but it’s also rugged! JSB Équipements Inc. is also among the rare companies to manufacture manure elevator ramps.
The stable expansion allowed the Lussier family to bring in 30 more heads and ensure better comfort for the herd. In addition to simplifying the milking process, the upgrades helped grow milk production to 10,000 kilograms per year and counting. And the story will only keep unfolding!
JSB Équipements Inc. is established in Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton and has customers in Quebec, Eastern Ontario and the Maritimes.
Although it was established in July 2007, the company boasts 40 years of experience in the field since it was launched by four former Machinerie Idéal employees.
JSB Équipements Inc. manufactures standard or custom farm equipment, sells and installs products from other brands such as Équipement Ferbo and WIC, and stocks a wide range of other equipment: JSB barn cleaner chains and log chains (7/8” chain), feeding carts, pumps for temporary manure storage, bale elevators and conveyors.
Having expanded its facilities by 1,000 sq. ft. in 2019, the company now has 6,400 sq. ft. of floor space. It also acquired a plasma cutting table two years ago to meet production needs, as well as a welding robot this past spring.
Nine employees work for JSB Équipements Inc., including qualified installers who can set up and commission your new equipment. Last but not least, the company offers emergency service to help you avoid production loss.
