A Family Business

Founding president Erick Robitaille and his daughters, assistant director Danika and warehouse supervisor Sabrina, share a commitment to the company’s mission.

It would be fair to say that entrepreneurship runs in the Robitaille family. After all, the company’s spirit, vision and values have been handed down through generations, allowing the trio to focus on what sets them apart—a diverse range of products and quality service.

This wonderful family history could even be traced back to Erick’s father, Eloy, who ran a packaging business in La Sarre. When he was a young boy, Erick enjoyed exploring his dad’s warehouse. Eloy sold the business in 1982 to take on new challenges at IPL Plastics, where Erick joined him shortly after.

After being laid off as a result of the IPL Plastics buyout, Erick seized the opportunity to take action. He established Emballages Robitaille in 1995 with a few associates, which was then renamed D. Robitaille and ultimately Distribution Robitaille.

Ample Warehouse Space

The Robitaille family has always been attentive to customers’ needs in order to provide tailored solutions. They manage 80 000 square feet of warehousing space, where at least 700 000 containers are kept in stock to quickly meet demand from food and manufacturing businesses.

Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Manufacturing

To ensure the welfare of future generations, the company is coming up with solutions to reduce its environmental footprint while keeping its prices competitive. What’s more, it leverages methods that help to produce safe containers at a low cost. A case in point? Distribution Robitaille enhanced its recovery system for metal cages or frames used to manufacture hybrid intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) that can hold liquids or solids. The result is that its hybrid IBCs made of a restored cage and a new container are now UN standardized for the international transportation of dangerous goods and certified by Transport Canada. These hybrid containers are a true entrepreneurial success story, with over 50,000 units produced! Going beyond its family roots, Distribution Robitaille shares its expertise and values with its twenty-some employees to build a strong team and corporate culture.
