A THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED DRYING SYSTEM for Fermes Beaudin S.E.N.C.

Three generations of dairy farmers owned and operated Fermes Beaudin S.E.N.C., in the village of Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur, before it was passed down to Michel and Jean-François Beaudin. The two brothers transformed the operation and now solely grow field crops—corn, soy and wheat—across 1,400 acres of land.

Keen to develop the most efficient drying system, they reached out to Agro Équipements Inc. to hire a team of experts including an engineer. Project manager Said Chady supported Michel and Jean-François throughout each phase, from the feasibility study and engineering design to equipment setup.

The drying system includes one Mathews Company (M-C) tower grain dryer with a 16 tonnes/hour capacity, two bucket elevators with a 125 tonnes/hour capacity, a grain conveyor, a conical silo and 12 GSI flat-bottom grain bins. The dryer control panels, elevators and silos were integrated exactly how the Beaudin brothers envisioned. For example, the M-C dryer takes up less space in the drying system and leverages heat recovery to reduce fuel use, which helped slash their propane bills by 30%. The Trax technology also allows them to monitor dryer operation in real time and control the equipment remotely through a mobile device or computer. Ultimately, these cost and travel time savings means a better quality of life for the Beaudin brothers!

Agro Équipements Inc. has been in business since 1986 and offers a wide range of products at its Napierville location for spraying as well as grain storage, drying, kernel sizing and handling.
